Who doesn't know what this series is? Does this even deserve an explanation?

Books I would get from the series:
My opinion on this concept/book series:
makes education(ish) things more accessible
I think of them as an introduction to the vocabulary of whatever topic
Reading one of the "for dummies" books is like taking a trial lesson to see if you want to learn how to play guitar. You will certainly learn some things during that lesson, but it in no way makes you proficient.
The quality may vary, depending on the author and your prior knowledge of the subject. Quality varies from book to book, author to author.
Very basic (One might even say that it was dumbed down. Haha.)
Opinions from Quora
The title is perhaps problematic as no one likes to be called a dummy, but I think people take the title with a grain of salt because it's clear the intent of them is to educate and help by providing info in a straightforward and accessible way.
If you want to take a self-directed crash course in something that you know little or nothing about, you can count on learning the basics from one of these books. Anything that catches your interest you can always study more deeply later.
Other:
There's a similar series called "A Complete Idiot's Guide". It seems that the "For Dummies series started first though.
"For Dummies" happens to be more popular.
I think Wikipedia is more reliable than these books. Wikipedia is pretty strict about the information they contain so there's that, whereas the authors for these books have more freedom in a sense and can kind of insert their opinions if they wanted to.
Hope this helped you in some way. Happy learning!
