The Great Gatsby
Honestly have not read this book yet but I will, since it is a classic. Banned for being explicit.
The Catcher In The Rye
I have read this one and I don't find it too problematic. Unless you start trying to imitate the actions of the main character, then you are kind of psychotic. And an incel. Generally is an enjoyable book though, when they talk about how it feels to go insane.
To Kill a Mockingbird
I have read this one too and I think depicting racism was kind of the point. Yes, it had the white saviorism but I think it wasn't so bad. Banned for slurs and racism.
The Color Purple
Have not read it yet but has been banned for graphic content, violence and abuse.
Ulysses
Haven't read this one as well, but this is apparently one of the most banned book so I will definitely start my winter reading with this one.
1984
Have not read it yet but I get the gist of it since I don't live under a rock, I suppose. Banned for explicit scenes.
Lolita
This one, I think has a very good reason to be banned. Overall gross and irritating. Used to be classified as romance back in the 60s when old men could write whatever they wanted and get away with it. Now classified as horror, considering the disturbing amount of pedophilia in it. I still lowkey want to read it but I suppose I will have to prepare a puke bucket beside me.
Of Mice and Men
I read this one and yes its a little racist but which book written at this time wasn't?
The Clockwork Orange
Haven't read it, got no idea about it, but I love the cover. Apparently banned because it is obscene. Would have never guessed by looking at the cover.
The Handmaids Tale
A lot of people have recommended me this book and I still haven't gotten around to reading it. Banned for vulgarity.
The Kite Runner
I have read it and honestly, there should be no other reason to ban it other than for blasphemy or something. Not recommended to impressionable people and definitely do not agree with the actions of some of the characters. But no person is truly evil nor good and that's just what people are like. Banned for violence.
Drama by Raina Telegmeir
I remember reading this book when I was little and was just straight up confused on how a guy can like another guy. I love the overall vibe and it really makes me want to live in the 90s. Banned in schools for having openly gay characters.
Madam Bovary
Not sure, since I haven't read it either but banned for being explicit.
Voltaire's Works
Ah I want to read his works since they are all apparently so good. Banned for explicitness.
And last but not least, the currently most banned author is Salman Rushdie. I kind of want to read his works but considering I cannot even digest Kahlil Gibran's works, I should probably save it for later.
