I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND READING THIS WHILE EATING

Introduction

I miss the good old days when bathrooms were just meant for humans. Like, you take a shovel dig, do your business and cover it up.

Now, you have to go to separate bathrooms for men and women. Not that I am against it, but I just find it so pointless. You do not even have to be pro-trans to see how useless gendered bathrooms are.

I was doing my exams recently in the exam hall, and I did not know where the bathrooms were. I had to ask the invigilator where the bathrooms were, because I could have sworn that everyone seemed to go in different directions to the bathroom. I would later come to realise that the guys were just going to the guys restroom whereas the girls were just going to the girls restroom. Yes, I am aware I am an idiot, but this honestly just highlights how unimportant it is to gender bathrooms.

I say take the gender out of everything. From now on, there should just be 10 separate stalls all called bathrooms. That's it. Gender inclusive, and less annoying.

I happen to be Muslim, so I totally get wanting to fix your hijab and all. For that I have another proposition. Why not have a separate room just for that? Like seriously. I am sure it would smell better too.

Once I came home that day, instead of studying for my next exam, I did my "research" on gender neutral public bathrooms.

I feel like the way we design our buildings, the architecture of everything plays a huge role, bigger than we think at least, in our lives. I could go on and on forever, but I think I should keep this one short.

Here's someone's account of using a gender neutral restroom.

Here's a link as to how gendered bathrooms came to be

Here are some links to some really cool resources on designing bathrooms.

That is it I guess. This is totally not a shitty post. [haha]
