How to Cut Your Own Hair

I haven't posted in so long mainly because Wix was getting a glow-up and decided to shut everyone out of her life while she worked on herself. Not going to lie, she does look better and she seems to be able to do more things now.
Anyway, I really want to cut my hair because a) gender dysphoria and b) it's more convenient. I will be staying at school for longer periods of time now and I will be going to the gym and swimming a lot more, so shorter hair is better. Besides, long hair eventually thins out unless you put in the effort, something which I do not want or care to do. Lastly, I don't use a hairdryer because I just grew up that way, plus, it damages your hair.
I aim for a sort of bob cut, not too long and not too short. Just perfect.
I figured that a lot of newbies make some pretty dumb mistakes when it comes to cutting their hair, so I thought I would list some basic steps and tips.

Comb your hair
Ensure that your scissors are very sharp (be careful)
Section your hair based on thickness (I need 4, which is probably average and I am lazy)
Don't pull your hair too much while cutting.
If you are sort of pulling it, do cut at an angle. (You will have to figure this one out as there are possibly a million ways to do this.)
Compare your hair lengths by combing them together
Check your behind and make sure there are mirrors in front of you.
Cut evenly (or whatever it is you're doing)
Try slight layering
Think about YOUR hair type and texture when choosing a haircut.
That's about all I can think of that I have learned from my trial and error. I don't really care how I do it usually, since I wear a hijab but this time I kind of want to get it right.
This is roughly the look I am going for:
